The sun is up and so is Nathaniel. Its a brand new day, perfect for play! But first it’s time to wake up Mommy and Daddy and head downstairs for breakfast.
It’s a perfect day for pancakes. But then, Nathaniel thinks that every day is a perfect day for pancakes and that anything would taste better with maple syrup on it.
Helping Daddy with the dishes is a great way to stall, but sooner or later it’s time for school. He always has a good time there with his friends and wonders why he didn’t want to go in the first place.
After school, Nathaniel likes to build houses all over the house. Then he likes to wire them up like science projects. Sometimes he concentrates so hard that he loses track of other things. That can lead to, well, accidents.
Its time for this to stop and Nathaniel has decided to stop it - with a little prodding from everyone around him, of course. Diapers are about to become a thing of the past.
Nathaniel’s Mom has set up a great obstacle course in the house for Nathaniel to run when she’s out. He tears around it like a star athlete! Maybe someday Living Room Obstacle Course will be an Olympic sport.
Where is Mommy? She’s been gone all day. But there’s nothing to worry about. She always comes home. Besides, Daddy’s here and wants to take Nathaniel for a walk around the neighborhood.
Nathaniel looks at the outside of his neighbors houses and imagines what it must be like inside. People aren’t so different that they shouldn’t all be friends. Maybe if everyone knew that, they would be.
It’s starting to rain and Nathaniel goes out to the garage, where the tools are throwing a party. The wheelbarrow leads everyone in its own special dance. Soon the whole neighborhood is dancing!
What a day it’s been! It’s time for bed. Nathaniel closes his eyes and dreams a path, a path that leads through an enchanted woods to a big, beautiful oak tree. As he follows the path and gets closer he can hear music coming down though the leaves.
Up in the tree, there it is! It’s Nathaniel’s Playhouse. All of his friends are there and having a great time! Even the birds in the branches are singing along. There’s a lemonade fountain, toys music and happy laughter ever after.
